Dr. Sabine Hazan is a trailblazer in gastroenterology and microbiome research, renowned for her pioneering work in clinical trials and microbial science. As the first woman accepted into the University of Florida’s Clinical Gastroenterology Fellowship, she has spent over two decades advancing medicine across gastroenterology, internal medicine, and hepatology. Dr. Hazan serves as CEO of Ventura Clinical Trials, where she has led more than 300 clinical trials in partnership with major pharmaceutical companies. She is also the founder and CEO of Progenabiome, a genetic sequencing lab leading over 35 studies exploring the microbiome’s role in health and disease. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her lab became the first in the world to detect SARS-CoV-2 in fecal samples via whole genome sequencing and identified microbiome markers linked to disease susceptibility. A respected voice on the international stage, Dr. Hazan has spoken at global conferences and serves as Series Editor for Practical Gastroenterology’s microbiome section. She is also pioneering work in familial fecal transplants with promising implications for autism, and founded The Malibu Microbiome Meeting to foster open scientific dialogue on fecal transplant research.
