Dr. Raymond L. Pierce is a board-certified internal medicine specialist and hospitalist with over three decades of clinical experience. Based in Rapid City, South Dakota, he has spent much of his career managing complex, acute conditions within hospital systems, including a long tenure at Black Hills Surgical Hospital. In 2018, he transitioned into the field of regenerative medicine by founding the Dakota Stem Cell Institute. His approach is rooted in his deep background in general medicine, where he observed the limitations of traditional treatments for chronic inflammatory and degenerative diseases, leading him to explore the healing potential of a patient’s own biological resources.
In his regenerative practice, Dr. Pierce focuses on the use of autologous stem cells—cells harvested from a patient’s own adipose (fat) tissue—to address conditions such as osteoarthritis, joint injuries, and systemic inflammation. While he is not a cardiologist by specialty, his work in internal medicine gives him a comprehensive perspective on how vascular health and inflammation impact the entire body. Furthermore, he takes a lead role in medical oversight as the Chairman of the International Cell Surgical Society Institutional Review Board (IRB), where he ensures that regenerative procedures are conducted under strict ethical and safety protocols.
