Dr. Sandra Lora Cremers, MD, FACS is a board-certified ophthalmologist renowned for her expertise in dry eye disease, cataract surgery, and comprehensive eye care. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Cremers earned her medical degree from the Brown University–Dartmouth Medical School Program and completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School’s Mount Auburn Hospital. She then pursued a clinical fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, specializing in ophthalmology.
In 2000, Dr. Cremers joined the Department of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she worked alongside Dr. Judah Folkman on the angiogenesis basis of ocular rosacea. During her tenure, she published surgical teaching tools in top international journals, created the largest database of surgical outcomes for resident cataract surgery, and was actively involved in training residents and fellows. She also participated in the Lancaster Cataract Course and the Harvard Medical School’s Intensive Cataract Surgical Training Program.
Currently, Dr. Cremers practices at Visionary Eye Doctors in Rockville, Maryland, and serves as the Director of the EyeDry Blepharitis & Rosacea Center™, a destination center for patients seeking advanced treatment for dry eye syndrome. She is one of the few surgeons worldwide performing Meibomian Gland Probing and has pioneered research into the connection between screen time and severe Meibomian gland loss in children. Her innovative approaches to treating dry eye disease include the use of platelet-rich plasma injections into the Meibomian and lacrimal glands.
