Anthony Oliva

Ph.D

Anthony Andrew Oliva, Ph.D. is a neuroscientist and regenerative medicine researcher specializing in mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapies for neuroinflammatory and age-related diseases. Based in Miami, Florida, Dr. Oliva serves as a lead investigator at Longeveron, LLC, where he focuses on translating stem cell science into innovative clinical treatments. With a strong background in both preclinical and clinical research, he has led pioneering studies on MSC therapy for myocardial infarction, heart failure, and now Alzheimer’s disease, demonstrating a commitment to advancing therapies that target the root causes of neurological decline.

Dr. Oliva’s current work includes a Phase I clinical trial investigating MSC therapy for individuals with early Alzheimer’s disease. This trial explores whether MSCs can safely reduce neuroinflammation, promote tissue repair, and support cognitive function. His research builds on preclinical studies showing that MSCs injected into Alzheimer’s-like animal models can decrease brain inflammation and improve neurological outcomes for several months. Through his work, Dr. Oliva is at the forefront of developing regenerative medicine approaches that harness the body’s own cellular mechanisms to combat neurodegenerative disease, with the goal of slowing or preventing the progression of Alzheimer’s and improving quality of life for patients.
